"The hills are alive, with the sound of music..." and we found it all in Salzburg! For those of you who have never had the pleasure of watching the Sound of Music, let me fill you in! Salzburg is the home for this most fabulous movie and we saw all the sights, locations and heard all the songs. Our tour on day 2 took us around the movie locations and filled us in on the behind-the-scenes info. This tour took us around Salzburg and to outer regions too. It was great singing along to the songs while looking at the places where Julie Andrews did her thing! But if you are reading this and getting the impression that we only imersed ourselves with Julie Andrews and songs, well....we didn't!
On day 1, we visited the historic fortress that overlooks the city (features heaps in the movie!). There were stunning views of Salzburg from the top. Salzburg is very green, lots of trees, mountains, meadows and a lovely river. From the fortress we spotted, well Samantha spotted a most excellent swimming complex. Whole on our very excellent S.o.M tour, they took us past this complex, much to our delight. So on day 3 we booked an extra night at our fab hostel and made our way to the pools! We were not disappointed. The most wonderful complex, complete with pools, slides, diving boards, table tennis, volleyball, mini golf and lots of gorgeous grass to lie on. It was boiling hot so the cold pools were very much appreciated. 7 hours later, we left happy and sunburnt!
I could imagine us living in Salzburg, as its such a beautiful city. Has a NZ touch about it! Salzburg is da bomb!! :)
Goodness me. Can hardly keep up with you guys. You are travelling so fast and seeing so much. Hope you are all well and not getting worn out!! All good here - weather gorgeous today. Luv to you all.
