West Coast of Turkey
Hey!
Have had a swell past couple of days, travelling down the west coast of Turkey. Troy was amazing! We had a really good tour guide that really knew the area and history. It was crazy to think that we were standing on 3000 year old paths and that the Trojans had actually walked along them too! It really blows your mind. That was the same with Pammukale and Ephesus.
With our tour in Pammukale we walked through the ruins of an old city that Cleopatra and Ceasar used to visit as it was so amazing! And it really was. Simon loved it. Also in Pammukale was a cliff face made of lime stone, which looked like snow! It had little hot pools in it so the girls paddled in those. It was really great.
Ephesus...well...it was mind blowing! Another old city, this one 3500 years old. These ruins were in such good condition, full buildings and theatres etc. There were complete buildings that you could go into, really, really spectactular. These tours were day tours, we were based in a lovely hotel, called the Rebetika, (fully recommened) in Selcut.
We are in the Greek island of Chios now, spending a relaxing day tomorrow before catching an overnight ferry to Athens tomorrow night.
Hope you are all super duper!

Gallipoli
Hi!
Had a very interesting night and day! At 8.45am we left our hotel with all our suitcases and bags and treked up the windy streets to the meeting place. After getting on the right bus and making the 5 hour drive to Gallipoli, we had to go through security and fight our way through the hundreds and thousands of aussie's and kiwi's.
Then we got a big shock! The grass area where we thought we were ment to be sleeping...well...it was tiny, and packed full! There was a tiny amount of grass and some stands with little, orange, uncomfortable seats. Unfortunately, we had to sleep in the stands! The girls lay on the ground under the seats, wrapped in tarpolines and sleeping bags while Kerri and Simon tried to get comfy on the small plastic seats! So that was an experience and a half!
The dawn service was great but the 6km, uphill walk up to Chunuck Bair was not! We managed it and after the NZ service, got on our bus again and was dropped off in Eceabat, which is where we are now! Staying in out first hostel.....um...its...well....you know...its a hostel. :( but off on a trip to Troy and the west coast of Turkey tomorrow for a few nights then the islands so very exciting!
That's the latest news, keep watching for more!
